CUobsessed 2019

April 9 @ 7:45 am - 2:00 pm

What’s New?

We went digital- for the last five years, we’ve provided a paper road map for the students of what their job is, how much they make and what their credit score is. With the Bite of Reality app, this profile is uploaded for the students. In the past, students would visit a booth and manually subtract their expense. Now, once they make a selection, they enter a code and the app does it for them.  In previous years, it was the goal of CU employees (at the booths) to encourage savings and be smart about their decisions. Not this year! The employees job at the booths is to be “sales orientated,” and get them to buy the most expensive items. The strategy behind this is, we want them to realize things that seem too good or impulse buys can lead to financial instability. We will have volunteers will be walking around, listening and encouraging the students to visit the CU Booth.

Students will visit each 9 booths and make a decision based on their profile. The booths we have are:

  1. Housing and Utilities
  2. Household Needs
  3. Clothing and Personal Care
  4. Shopping
  5. Kid Care
  6. Transportation
  7. Entertainment
  8. Groceries and Dining
  9. Credit Union
